Summer is here, and we’re celebrating with a sing-along and a skip in our step with our musicals season.
British summers tend to oscillate between too much sun or too much rain, and both forecasts can make for the perfect trip to the cinema to see a classic film back on the big screen. This season is a celebration of the feel-good vibes that only cinema can deliver, featuring iconic characters, memorable locations, and songs everyone knows the words to.
We start with genuine Hollywood royalty with Gene Kelly’s timeless Singin’ In The Rain, a film that truly never gets old as audiences marvel at the stunning set pieces and moves – from Kelly’s eponymous dance number to trying to figure out just how Donald O’Connor flipped on that wall.

‘Summer Lovin’’ sets the tone for the season, which wouldn’t be complete without Grease. Head back to Rydell High School for romance, fast cars, and some of the best songs in cinema history.
If you can’t make it to the Med this summer, we’ve got you. Grab your friends and a cold bottle of Lady A, and join us for Mamma Mia! Audience sing-alongs come as standard.
A modern take on the genre, La La Land is a film that has remained beloved in recent years. From the remarkable opening number on a traffic-jammed freeway to tap dancing in the starlight, watch Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone fall in and out of love in slickly stylised contemporary Los Angeles.

We take things up a notch with Baz Luhrmann’s wild and often hilarious Moulin Rouge, starring Nicole Kidman and Ewan McGregor. Certainly one to enjoy with a Picante or two.
A true maverick of American filmmaking, John Waters is known for his transgressive films, including Hairspray. Set in 1960s Baltimore, it follows a teenager (Ricki Lake) as she enters a TV dance competition and finds herself campaigning against racial segregation. A cult classic at the time that’s grown in popularity over the years.
We finish with one of the coolest duos in town, Jake and Elwood – The Blues Brothers. This raucous musical-action comedy follows the brothers on a ‘mission from God’ to save their beloved orphanage by reuniting some of their former musician pals, which happen to include the likes of Ray Charles and Aretha Franklin.

And finally, keep a lookout for the return of the most iconic band in cinema history…. as 2025 may be the comeback of Spinal Tap.
