The interior of the Electric reflects the cinema's long history. Sixty-five leather armchairs with footstools and side tables offer unparalleled comfort. In addition there are three 2-seater sofas at the rear of the theatre and six double beds in the front row providing a unique cinema experience. Individual cashmere blankets complete the picture.
A bar is open half an hour prior to each screening, serving cocktails, wine, beer and champagne. Substantial cinema snacks are also available prior to each film.
Food and drink both stop five minutes before the main feature starts.
The Cinema's film programme comprises a mix of quality mainstream and art house films. It also shows classic titles that are critically acclaimed alongside eagerly-anticipated new-releases.
In February 2011 the Electric Cinema turned 100 years old. To celebrate the centenary, we put together a brochure with contributions from the many people who had been involved at the Electric down the years.
You can download the brochure opposite (pdf) or explore the history of the cinema using the links beow. Please note all details were correct at time of going to press (Feb 2011).
