Electric Vintage

Over the last year many people have shared their memories of the Electric with us and it has become clear that the Electric Cinema’s true hey day was in the 1970s when Peter Howden kickstarted its infamous repertory programme, screening films that no one else would dare to screen, films that were cult classics and even a little bit seedy or totally off the wall.

The Cinema is so fondly remembered by many people who worked at the Cinema or were regulars at the time, that we’ve chosen to finish off the centenary year by harking back to those days when All-Nighters were first introduced. Peter Howden guest curates and we have also chosen a couple of titles from an original programme from February 1970. This time though, there will be more than tea available from the ‘hatch’ at the back of the cinema!
